The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Nicodim Orădan was the one to do the kick off. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Victor Găvănescu showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Horia Cretan might have been able to make a better finish in the 59th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Victor Găvănescu. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Horia Cretan ran back to his position shaking his head. Marcel Nicolescu hit a great freekick 60 minutes into the match. Nicodim Orădan recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 63rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Horia Cretan sent away a hard shot on goal in the 63rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Isac Râznicu breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After having played for 81 minutes, Cătălin Olăroiu managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Sulpusiu's supporters crossed their fingers, but Cătălin Olăroiu was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 83rd minute, Horia Cretan got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Horia Cretan fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 85th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Victor Găvănescu having to interfere. If Horia Cretan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 87th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Horia Cretan in the 90th minute a chance for a shot on goal. Sulpusiu's Victor Găvănescu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Horia Cretan in the 94th minute of play. Victor Găvănescu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Nicodim Orădan, who was totally free with the ball in the 96th minute. There was no doubt that Steaua were the better team. Steaua's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
