After some fancy dribbling in the 7th minute, Costin Braica managed to get in a good position for a shot. Caraseu's supporters rose to their feet, but Costin Braica was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Isac Râznicu breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After a rather tough play, Steaua's Nicodim Orădan got a free kick in the 10th minute. Isac Râznicu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Aurelian Focșa in the 13th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Aurelian Focșa in the 20th minute of play forced Steaua's goalkeeper Isac Râznicu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Emanuel Drâmbă showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Horia Cretan in the 23rd minute of the match. In the 29th minute, Nicodim Orădan ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Emanuel Drâmbă was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. Costel Ghizdeanu's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Emanuel Drâmbă read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 33rd minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Teodor Cosâmbescu in the 35th minute of play forced Caraseu's goalkeeper Emanuel Drâmbă to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Radu Tonegaru's late challenge caught a Steaua's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Radu Tonegaru helped the player get up and apologised. In the 40th minute Costin Braica shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Isac Râznicu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Steaua's Isac Râznicu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Aurelian Focșa in the 41st minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gavril Stănilă in the 42nd minute of play forced Caraseu's goalkeeper Emanuel Drâmbă to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 43rd minute, Costin Braica made a precise shot to the right of Isac Râznicu. Steaua's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-1. When Horia Cretan came up free with the goalie in the 47th minute, the Steaua fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Horia Cretan couldn't finish the play. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Aurelian Focșa stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Ilie Aanuţei struck a weak shot in the 53rd minute. Emanuel Drâmbă didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Steaua. Isac Râznicu didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Costin Braica went, in the 77th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-1 was the resulting score. Isac Râznicu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Costin Braica in the 83rd minute of play. The supporters of Caraseu booed when Steaua was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 86 match minutes in a wonderful position. Teodor Cosâmbescu didn't get a good kick on the ball. 88 minutes into the game, Horia Cretan recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Emanuel Drâmbă.
