After some fancy dribbling in the 17th minute, Cătălin Olăroiu managed to get in a good position for a shot. Sulpusiu's supporters rose to their feet, but Cătălin Olăroiu was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Mădălin Oblemenco breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Jidvei Regal's defense didn't have a chance, in the 19th minute, when Liviu Marincean scored to the left of an out of position Mădălin Oblemenco, making the score, 1-1. Victor Găvănescu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Eduard Ciucă, who was totally free with the ball in the 28th minute. The referee ignored Sulpusiu's protests and gave Liviu Marincean a yellow card for diving instead. In the 44th match minute, Sulpusiu was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Liviu Marincean to maneuver through the defense. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Sulpusiu. 88 minutes into the match, Jidvei Regal's goal looked a bit too open when Liviu Marincean came free, but Mădălin Oblemenco reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.
