Basarab Neicu charged in rather forcefully in the 5th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Basarab Neicu the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, Steaua Bucuresti's Basarab Neicu got a free kick in the 5th minute. Steaua Bucuresti's Valer Corduneanu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ovidiu Popete in the 7th minute of play. A collision led to FCC ICIM Arad getting a freekick after 8 minutes play. Andrei Vădan hit a great ball. When Radu Panaite came up free with the goalie in the 11th minute, the Steaua Bucuresti fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Radu Panaite couldn't finish the play. After 15 played minutes Steaua Bucuresti got a freekick which was hit by Basarab Neicu. 17 minutes into the match, Ovidiu Popete notched a goal, 1-1, to the right of Steaua Bucuresti's Valer Corduneanu. Valer Corduneanu was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Radu Panaite who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 33rdth minute tested the skills of Irinel Cângea when he managed to save the team from getting behind. The nice shot from Radu Panaite in the 34thth minute just in front of the goal should have ended in point on the board, but Irinel Cângea had a great feel for the game and superbly saved the ball from getting in by the left post. 39 minutes into the match, Radu Panaite notched a goal, 3-1, to the right of FCC ICIM Arad's Irinel Cângea. Irinel Cângea was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Irinel Cângea made a fantastic save in the 43rd minute, when Radu Panaite sent off a good shot on target. A collision led to Steaua Bucuresti getting a freekick after 46 minutes play. The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Radu Panaite stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Sever Chelaru sent away a hard shot on goal in the 52nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Steaua Bucuresti's defense didn't have a chance, in the 77th minute, when Corneliu Astafei scored to the left of an out of position Valer Corduneanu, making the score, 3-2. 81 minutes into the match, Steaua Bucuresti's goalkeeper Valer Corduneanu had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Ovidiu Popete. In the 83rd minute the ball was on its way in behind FCC ICIM Arad's goalkeeper Irinel Cângea, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After a defensive mix-up in FCC ICIM Arad's zone, Sever Chelaru stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Irinel Cângea came out of the goal and Sever Chelaru tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Radu Panaite's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Irinel Cângea read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 89th minute of play. In the 90th match minute, FCC ICIM Arad was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Florin Măgherușan to maneuver through the defense. 93 minutes into the match, Corneliu Astafei dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Valer Corduneanu, 3-3. The teams fought very hard right up to the final whistle. Both sets of players were happy to go away with a draw.
