Dan Ciuhandu yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-1. A beautiful save bye Universitatea Cluj's goalie prevented a goal. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Aurel Rainea made a kick off. Dan Ciuhandu took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Aurel Rainea, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The supporters of Atalanta booed when Universitatea Cluj was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 53 match minutes in a wonderful position. Marcel Stănciulescu didn't get a good kick on the ball. Dan Ciuhandu came out of the goal in the 65th minute to try and stop a shot by Atalanta's Aurel Rainea. But to his dismay, Aurel Rainea quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-1. After a rather tough play, Universitatea Cluj's Claudiu Haidău got a free kick in the 70th minute. Dan Ciuhandu came out of the goal in the 71st minute to try and stop a shot by Atalanta's Daniel Răchită. But to his dismay, Daniel Răchită quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 4-1. Aurel Rainea scored 5-1 in the 80th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Dan Ciuhandu, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. After 83 played minutes Universitatea Cluj got a freekick which was hit by Adrian Barascu. In the 84th minute, Daniel Răchită got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Adrian Barascu received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 86th minute. Emanuel Geambașu tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Panait Alamaru fell near the penalty area in the 87th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Universitatea Cluj's protests and gave Panait Alamaru a yellow card for diving instead. Panait Alamaru kicked well hit freekick during the 87th minute of the match. Dan Ciuhandu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Daniel Răchită in the 89th minute of the match. For all the effort they put into the match, the Universitatea Cluj players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Atalanta.
