A collision led to FC Grove Street getting a freekick after 2 minutes play. Sebastian Chifan hit a great ball. Daniel Răchită fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 8th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Mugurel Cerchez having to interfere. Aurel Rainea recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 9th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Aurel Rainea sent away a hard shot on goal in the 10th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 12 minutes, Sebastian Chifan mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the FC Grove Street and the Atalanta players grew even worse after the yellow card. Sebastian Chifan hit a great freekick 12 minutes into the match. If Cosmin Blejan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 13th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Florin Alexiu during the 19th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Florin Alexiu kicked well hit freekick during the 20th minute of the match. After some careless play in the FC Grove Street defense, Iacob Postelnicu kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Mugurel Cerchez. The FC Grove Street fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Mugurel Cerchez should have stopped the shot. 27 minutes into the game, Aurel Rainea recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Mugurel Cerchez. Aurel Rainea showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 2-0. 30 minutes into the match, Atalanta's goal looked a bit too open when Petre Chiriloaie came free, but Emanuel Geambașu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Daniel Răchită was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 35th minute. Atalanta's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. Iacob Postelnicu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 36th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Atalanta's Cosmin Blejan got a good chance for a goal in the 39th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When Cosmin Blejan came up free with the goalie in the 40th minute, the Atalanta fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Cosmin Blejan couldn't finish the play. Cosmin Blejan sent away a hard shot on goal in the 42nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Mugurel Cerchez took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Aurel Rainea, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-0.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Aurel Rainea to make the kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Aurel Rainea in the 51st minute of play forced FC Grove Street's goalkeeper Mugurel Cerchez to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Mugurel Cerchez made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Aurel Rainea in the 56th minute of play. In the 57th minute, Olimpiu Miclea hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Daniel Răchită fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 59th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Mugurel Cerchez having to interfere. Cosmin Blejan fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 60th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Mugurel Cerchez having to interfere. When Atalanta's Aurel Rainea in the 62nd minute got a chance for a shot 62nd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye FC Grove Street's goalie prevented a goal. In the 64th minute, Daniel Răchită ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Mugurel Cerchez was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-0. After 68 minutes, Aurel Rainea made it 4-0 with a short kick to the right side. FC Grove Street's Mugurel Cerchez tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Mugurel Cerchez showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Aurel Rainea in the 71st minute of the match. Florin Alexiu struck a weak shot in the 72nd minute. Mugurel Cerchez didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Atalanta. In the 74th minute, Aurel Rainea got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Daniel Răchită recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 82nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The supporters of FC Grove Street booed when Atalanta was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 84 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nicu Boaru didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Cosmin Blejan came up free with the goalie in the 89th minute, the Atalanta fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Cosmin Blejan couldn't finish the play. Daniel Răchită fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 91st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Mugurel Cerchez having to interfere. If Cosmin Blejan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 93rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After having played for 96 minutes, Tudor Nae managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. FC Grove Street's supporters crossed their fingers, but Tudor Nae was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. There was no doubt that Atalanta were the better team. Atalanta's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
