Gavril Chifu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 4th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ciprian Cojan having to interfere. 6 minutes into the game, Gavril Chifu lined in a short shot 1-0 behind a frustrated Ciprian Cojan. Vali Andreescu was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 9 minutes into the match. In a very dangerous position, a player in F C Olt fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 9th minute. Penalty! The goalkeeper, Ciprian Cojan, was totally fooled by Catalu's Adam Avramescu, who 12 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. Catalu's Gavril Chifu got a good chance for a goal in the 14th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Gavril Chifu received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 16th minute. Ciprian Cojan tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After having played for 18 minutes, Adam Avramescu managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Catalu's supporters crossed their fingers, but Adam Avramescu was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Gavril Chifu's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 20thth minute, Ciprian Cojan skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Adam Avramescu in the 22nd minute of play forced F C Olt's goalkeeper Ciprian Cojan to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A collision led to F C Olt getting a freekick after 24 minutes play. Răzvan Stolojan hit a great ball. Ciprian Cojan took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gavril Chifu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 26th match minute, F C Olt was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Emilian Maftei to maneuver through the defense. After having played for 35 minutes, Nistor Zafiu managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Anton Comăneci dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-1. 41 minutes into the game, Nistor Zafiu cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-2. Anton Comăneci was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. If Olimpiu Opaina had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 47th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.
Tiberiu Tonegaru could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 52nd minute of the match, but Anton Comăneci made a huge save. Anton Comăneci showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Nistor Zafiu in the 53rd minute of the match. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Marin Sângeorzan during the 67th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 67 played minutes Catalu got a freekick which was hit by Marin Sângeorzan. 70 minutes into the match, Catalu's goal looked a bit too open when Nistor Zafiu came free, but Anton Comăneci reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 71st minute, Gavril Chifu managed to get in a good position for a shot. Catalu's supporters rose to their feet, but Gavril Chifu was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ciprian Cojan breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 75 minutes into the match, Gavril Chifu notched a goal, 5-2, to the right of F C Olt's Ciprian Cojan. Ciprian Cojan was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Catalu's defense didn't have a chance, in the 79th minute, when Nistor Zafiu scored to the left of an out of position Anton Comăneci, making the score, 5-3. Olimpiu Opaina kicked well hit freekick during the 81st minute of the match. In the 89th minute the ball was on its way in behind Catalu's goalkeeper Anton Comăneci, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. With a little luck, Catalu's Anton Comăneci got control of the ball when Emilian Maftei tried to sneak it across the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nistor Zafiu in the 95th minute of play forced Catalu's goalkeeper Anton Comăneci to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Catalu were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of F C Olt for a fine match.
