In the 4th match minute, Predoni was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Vintilă Arseni to maneuver through the defense. Tiberiu Baican made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Costin Cotuțiu in the 5th minute of play. After having played for 6 minutes, Vintilă Arseni managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Predoni's supporters crossed their fingers, but Vintilă Arseni was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Costin Cotuțiu hit a great freekick 7 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Emil Bogatu in the 10th minute of play forced Predoni's goalkeeper Tiberiu Baican to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Gelu Scaeru took the ball and in the 14 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised José Carlos Pombal. José Carlos Pombal dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. In the 17th minute, Aristide Datcu got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Tiberiu Baican showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Emil Bogatu, who was totally free with the ball in the 25th minute. The supporters of C.s.s. Zalau booed when Predoni was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 28 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gelu Scaeru didn't get a good kick on the ball. José Carlos Pombal took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gelu Scaeru, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 34th minute, Costin Cotuțiu left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The C.s.s. Zalau fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-1. In the 36thth minute of the game Emil Bogatu who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Predoni's Tiberiu Baican was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Tiberiu Baican took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ahmet Korcan Oykan, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Aristide Datcu took the ball and in the 39 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised José Carlos Pombal. José Carlos Pombal dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-2. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Gelu Scaeru stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. A collision led to Predoni getting a freekick after 52 minutes play. Marius Zorlescu hit a great ball. When Ciprian Ailioaiei came up free with the goalie in the 53rd minute, the C.s.s. Zalau fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ciprian Ailioaiei couldn't finish the play. Tiberiu Baican took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Costin Cotuțiu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 65 minutes into the game, Mihai Puric threw the ball into play from the sideline. Predoni's Emanuel Trapcea quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. After a rather tough play, Predoni's Claudiu Minda got a free kick in the 67th minute. Tiberiu Baican didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Iulian Taşcău went, in the 68th minute, to the upper right corner, 4-2 was the resulting score. Gelu Scaeru could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 73rd minute of the match, but José Carlos Pombal made a huge save. Tiberiu Baican made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Iulian Taşcău in the 75th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in C.s.s. Zalau's zone, Gelu Scaeru stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. José Carlos Pombal came out of the goal and Gelu Scaeru tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Toader Lupșoiu scored 4-3 in the 89th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of José Carlos Pombal, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Gelu Scaeru could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 93rd minute of the match, but José Carlos Pombal made a huge save. The audience thought a goal was coming when Gelu Scaeru got free with José Carlos Pombal in the 94th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Predoni's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
