The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. With his leg Tiberiu Baican managed to avoid a goal in the 3rdth minute, when Universitatea Cluj's Grigore Sfetcu fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Panait Alamaru received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 6th minute. Tiberiu Baican tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 7th match minute, Predoni was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Marius Zorlescu to maneuver through the defense. In the 9th minute Gelu Scaeru shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dan Ciuhandu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Dan Ciuhandu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Vintilă Arseni in the 28th minute of the match. 29 minutes into the match, Predoni's goal looked a bit too open when Adrian Barascu came free, but Tiberiu Baican reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Dan Ciuhandu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gelu Scaeru in the 32nd minute of play. Universitatea Cluj's Dan Ciuhandu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Aristide Datcu in the 37th minute of play. Tiberiu Baican was a little too slow when Grigore Sfetcu got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 43rd minute. The score was now 4-0. Claudiu Minda hit a great freekick 47 minutes into the match.

The wind increased when Gelu Scaeru made the kick off in the second half. In the 52nd minute Grigore Sfetcu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tiberiu Baican saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 56 played minutes Universitatea Cluj got a freekick which was hit by Adrian Barascu. Dan Ciuhandu made an important save on a dangerous shot by Gelu Scaeru in the 61st minute. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Sebastian Vâlcu during the 63rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 62 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. If Panait Alamaru had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 71st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Tiberiu Baican showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Grigore Sfetcu, who was totally free with the ball in the 72nd minute. Panait Alamaru fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 74th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tiberiu Baican having to interfere. When Aristide Datcu came up free with the goalie in the 77th minute, the Predoni fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Aristide Datcu couldn't finish the play. After 77 played minutes Universitatea Cluj got a freekick which was hit by Emil Stănciulaş. After having played for 82 minutes, Panait Alamaru managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Universitatea Cluj's supporters crossed their fingers, but Panait Alamaru was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Dan Ciuhandu made a fantastic save in the 88th minute, when Gelu Scaeru sent off a good shot on target. In the 92nd minute Grigore Sfetcu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tiberiu Baican saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 97 minutes, Grigore Sfetcu made it 5-1 with a short kick to the right side. Predoni's Tiberiu Baican tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Universitatea Cluj's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
