The audience thought a goal was coming when Cosmin Gorjanu got free with Radu Crivoi in the 5th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 9 minutes into the match, Catalu's Octavian Zafiu sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Radu Crivoi narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Anton Comăneci showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tudor Covataru, who was totally free with the ball in the 13th minute. Radu Crivoi was out of position in the 34 minute of play, and Octavian Zafiu capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Octavian Zafiu really showed his touch with that goal: 1-1. Martin Muntian sent away a hard shot on goal in the 42nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. A collision led to AAMrFane getting a freekick after 47 minutes play. Dragoş Feteanu hit a great ball. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

After a defensive mix-up in AAMrFane's zone, Octavian Zafiu stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Radu Crivoi came out of the goal and Octavian Zafiu tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. For all the effort they put into the match, the AAMrFane players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Catalu.
