Dinu Gheondea might have been able to make a better finish in the 18th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Ernest Isbășoiu. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Dinu Gheondea ran back to his position shaking his head. Dinu Gheondea fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 18th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ernest Isbășoiu having to interfere. 23 minutes into the match, Jiul Petrosani's goalkeeper Ernest Isbășoiu had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Dinu Gheondea. Jiul Petrosani's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Marian Gârniceanu 27 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 1-0. After 31 played minutes Jiul Petrosani got a freekick which was hit by Costel Ştiopul. Dinu Gheondeas short, quick shot in the 33rdth minute got Ernest Isbășoiu to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. FC POLI TIMISOARA's Dinu Gheondea was standing unmarked in front of the goal when he, in the 34th play minute, got the ball and easily drilled it into the goal. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Marian Gârniceanu during the 37th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 48thth minute of the game Dinu Gheondea who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Jiul Petrosani's Ernest Isbășoiu was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Dinu Gheondea to make the kick off. In the 52nd minute, Marian Gârniceanu left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. Ernest Isbășoiu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Marian Gârniceanu in the 69th minute of the match. In the 71st minute, Irinel Breazu made a precise shot to the right of Ernest Isbășoiu. Jiul Petrosani's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 4-0. But to his dismay, Dragoş Muntian quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 5-1. In the 86thth minute of the game Dinu Gheondea who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Jiul Petrosani's Ernest Isbășoiu was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. 91 minutes into the match, Jiul Petrosani's goal looked a bit too open when Panait Nicoliță came free, but Ernest Isbășoiu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 93 minutes into the match, Dinu Gheondea had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Ernest Isbășoiu. Jiul Petrosani's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Dinu Gheondea was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 7-1. After some fancy dribbling in the 99th minute, Dinu Gheondea managed to get in a good position for a shot. FC POLI TIMISOARA's supporters rose to their feet, but Dinu Gheondea was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ernest Isbășoiu breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick.
