Spectators: 7683 (Terracing: 5763, Seating: 1767, VIP seats: 153) FC POLI TIMISOARA's Dinu Gheondea started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 3rd minute, Marian Gârniceanu got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. When Dinu Gheondea came up free with the goalie in the 6th minute, the FC POLI TIMISOARA fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Dinu Gheondea couldn't finish the play. Dinu Gheondea let the left foot speak when in front of goal in the 9th minute shot 1-0 at rihgt post. Tudor Davidescu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Dinu Gheondea, who was totally free with the ball in the 14th minute. Tudor Davidescu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Panait Nicoliță in the 16th minute of play. Dinu Gheondea sent away a hard shot on goal in the 17th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 19 played minutes Gherghita FCM got a freekick which was hit by Călin Zăreanu. With his leg Tudor Davidescu managed to avoid a goal in the 21stth minute, when FC POLI TIMISOARA's Dinu Gheondea fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. The audience thought a goal was coming when Dinu Gheondea got free with Tudor Davidescu in the 24th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 25th minute, FC POLI TIMISOARA's Dinu Gheondea dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 2-0. Dinu Gheondea could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 31st minute of the match, but Tudor Davidescu made a huge save. Dinu Gheondea in the 35thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Tudor Davidescu, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. In the 38thth minute of the game Dinu Gheondea who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Gherghita FCM's Tudor Davidescu was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Iustinian Elefteriu charged in rather forcefully in the 38th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Iustinian Elefteriu the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of FC POLI TIMISOARA booed when Gherghita FCM was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 38 match minutes in a wonderful position. Iustinian Elefteriu didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 44 minutes, Traian Tâbârnă mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Gherghita FCM and the FC POLI TIMISOARA players grew even worse after the yellow card. In a very dangerous position, a player in Gherghita FCM fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 44th minute. Penalty! The goalkeeper, Tudor Davidescu, was totally fooled by FC POLI TIMISOARA's Albert Stelea, who 46 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 3-0.

In the 53rd minute, Cazimir Săvescu hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 60 minutes into the match, Dinu Gheondea notched a goal, 4-0, to the right of Gherghita FCM's Tudor Davidescu. Tudor Davidescu was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 62nd match minute, FC POLI TIMISOARA was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Rareș Mazăre to maneuver through the defense. Călin Zăreanu hit a great freekick 67 minutes into the match. Tudor Davidescu took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Dinu Gheondea, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 72nd match minute, FC POLI TIMISOARA was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Albert Stelea to maneuver through the defense. The crowd rose to their feet as Călin Zăreanu kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Cazimir Marincean. That made the score 4-1 in the 73 minute of play. In the 80th minute, Robert Nestor made a precise shot to the right of Tudor Davidescu. Gherghita FCM's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 5-1. After a defensive mix-up in Gherghita FCM's zone, Marian Gârniceanu stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Tudor Davidescu came out of the goal and Marian Gârniceanu tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 87 played minutes Gherghita FCM got a freekick which was hit by Tudor Rucăreanu. Marian Gârniceanu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 93rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tudor Davidescu having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Gherghita FCM's zone, Dinu Gheondea stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Tudor Davidescu came out of the goal and Dinu Gheondea tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When the referee ended the match the FC POLI TIMISOARA players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
