STEAUA BUCURESTI's Eugen Curtean played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Viorel Irod in the 8th minute of play. Mehmet Ali Ergönül kicked well hit freekick during the 9th minute of the match. The audience was convinced that Viorel Irod's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Eugen Curtean was relentless in the 11th minute of the game. Marcel Frunză was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Petru Trăistaru showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-0 in the 12 minute of play. Eugen Curtean took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nechifor Hurmuz, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Viorel Irod came up free with the goalie in the 21st minute, the GLADIATORII fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Viorel Irod couldn't finish the play. In the 24th match minute, GLADIATORII was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Pompiliu Hritcu to maneuver through the defense. Mihnea Enache hit a great freekick 31 minutes into the match. In the 33rd minute Maksymilian Traczewski shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Marcel Frunză saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Marcel Frunză showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Petre Ganea, who was totally free with the ball in the 43rd minute. 46 minutes into the game, Petru Trăistaru was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. F.C. STEAUA BUCURESTI's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave GLADIATORII the free kick. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Maksymilian Traczewski stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Petru Trăistaru in the 56th minute of play forced GLADIATORII's goalkeeper Marcel Frunză to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Marcel Frunză didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Maksymilian Traczewski went, in the 59th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-1 was the resulting score. In the 63rd minute Viorel Irod shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Eugen Curtean saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 69th minute, Octav Rușanu hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Viorel Irod fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 72nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Eugen Curtean having to interfere. F.C. STEAUA BUCURESTI's Eugen Curtean proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 76th minute of the match, managed to save F.C. STEAUA BUCURESTI from getting a goal against them. Eugen Curtean made a fantastic save in the 79th minute, when Nechifor Hurmuz sent off a good shot on target. The crowd rose to their feet as GLADIATORII's Nechifor Hurmuz slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Eugen Curtean. That made the score 2-2 after 82 minutes of play. Eugen Curtean made a fantastic save in the 88th minute, when Nechifor Hurmuz sent off a good shot on target. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Daniel Pantelimon during the 91st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to GLADIATORII getting a freekick after 91 minutes play. Daniel Pantelimon hit a great ball. Nechifor Hurmuz kicked a quick shot right in front of the goal in the 94thth minute. Though ot was a great shot F.C. STEAUA BUCURESTI's keeper Eugen Curtean was sill able to block leaving the score board unchanged. The crowd rose to their feet as Viorel Irod kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Eugen Curtean. That made the score 2-3 in the 96 minute of play. The GLADIATORII supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing GLADIATORII would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
