An unexpectedly hard shot by Cezar Alexandru in the 4th minute of play forced GLADIATORII's goalkeeper Marcel Frunză to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Marcel Frunză took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Hermengildo Jobo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The audience was convinced that Cezar Alexandru's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Marcel Frunză was relentless in the 5th minute of the game. When the match had gone on for 5 minutes, Cezar Alexandru put it in 0-1 from a short distance just to the right of Marcel Frunză. Hermengildo Jobo took the ball and in the 8 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Marcel Frunză. Marcel Frunză dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-2. Marcel Frunză took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nelson Mendoza, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 11 minutes GLADIATORII's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Nelson Mendoza who took care of the corner kick. 13 minutes into the match, GLADIATORII's goal looked a bit too open when Cezar Alexandru came free, but Marcel Frunză reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Marcel Frunză didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Hermengildo Jobo went, in the 14th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-3 was the resulting score. An unexpectedly hard shot by Hermengildo Jobo in the 21st minute of play forced GLADIATORII's goalkeeper Marcel Frunză to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 22nd minute, Nelson Mendoza ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Marcel Frunză was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-4. In the 25th minute, Viorel Irod made a precise shot to the right of João Massa. UFC STEAUA's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-4. Marcel Frunză came out of the goal in the 28th minute to try and stop a shot by UFC STEAUA's Cezar Alexandru. But to his dismay, Cezar Alexandru quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-5. 34 minutes into the match, GLADIATORII's goal looked a bit too open when Cezar Alexandru came free, but Marcel Frunză reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Cezar Alexandru had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 36th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 37 minutes into the game, Cezar Alexandru cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-6. Marcel Frunză was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 40th minute, Hermengildo Jobo ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Marcel Frunză was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-7. Nelson Mendoza scored 1-8 in the 43rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Marcel Frunză, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Marcel Frunză showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Hermengildo Jobo in the 46th minute of the match. After the first half UFC STEAUA were leading 1-8. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Cezar Alexandru to make the kick off. The crowd rose to their feet as Nelson Mendoza kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Marcel Frunză. That made the score 1-9 in the 52 minute of play. Marcel Frunză took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Therkild Prendorf, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. GLADIATORII's Marcel Frunză proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 60th minute of the match, managed to save GLADIATORII from getting a goal against them. Marcel Frunză came out of the goal in the 62nd minute to try and stop a shot by UFC STEAUA's Hermengildo Jobo. But to his dismay, Hermengildo Jobo quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-10. 66 minutes into the match, Hermengildo Jobo dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Marcel Frunză, 1-11. In the 74th minute Therkild Prendorf shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Marcel Frunză saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 77 minutes into the game, UFC STEAUA's Therkild Prendorf nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Marcel Frunză made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-13. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cezar Alexandru in the 80th minute of play forced GLADIATORII's goalkeeper Marcel Frunză to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some careless play in the GLADIATORII defense, Cezar Alexandru kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Marcel Frunză. The GLADIATORII fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Marcel Frunză should have stopped the shot. In the 88th minute, UFC STEAUA's Therkild Prendorf dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-15. Marcel Frunză made a fantastic save in the 91st minute, when Hermengildo Jobo sent off a good shot on target. Nelson Mendoza could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 92nd minute of the match, but Marcel Frunză made a huge save. After 93 played minutes Nelson Mendoza rounded GLADIATORII's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 1-16. Marcel Frunză made an important save on a dangerous shot by Hermengildo Jobo in the 96th minute.
