Copalnic's Ovidiu Nenițescu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sérgio Ferraz in the 16th minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Alin Gorjanu got free with Ovidiu Nenițescu in the 24th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 31 minutes into the match, Copalnic's goal looked a bit too open when Sérgio Ferraz came free, but Ovidiu Nenițescu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 34th minute, Narcis Şoiman managed to get in a good position for a shot. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Ovidiu Boteanu to make the kick off.
