Victor Gafița fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 8th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Luca Papaiani having to interfere. Gheorghe Oproiu recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 11th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The supporters of Stiinta Andromeda booed when Fc Rapid Bucuresti was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 12 match minutes in a wonderful position. Mihnea Dragomiroiu didn't get a good kick on the ball. Gheorghe Oproiu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 15th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Luca Papaiani having to interfere. In the 18th minute Narcis Popete shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Luca Papaiani saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 19 minutes into the game, Fc Rapid Bucuresti's Mihnea Dragomiroiu nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Marian Hurmuzescu made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-0. Șerban Roşca sent away a hard shot on goal in the 24th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. Marian Hurmuzescu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Șerban Roşca in the 44th minute of the match. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Sergiu Mihalcea to make the kick off. Marian Hurmuzescu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Șerban Roşca in the 54th minute of play. In the 63rd minute Victor Gafița shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Luca Papaiani saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Marian Hurmuzescu didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Uno Brogren went, in the 69th minute, to the upper right corner, 4-0 was the resulting score. Iordache Bognar received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 73rd minute. Luca Papaiani tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 77 minutes into the game, Sergiu Mihalcea cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 5-0. Marian Hurmuzescu was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Mihnea Dragomiroiu kicked well hit freekick during the 82nd minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in Fc Rapid Bucuresti's zone, Sorin Cornoiu stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Luca Papaiani came out of the goal and Sorin Cornoiu tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Luca Papaiani made a fantastic save in the 86th minute, when Calistrat Dichiseanu sent off a good shot on target. Luca Papaiani made an important save on a dangerous shot by Calistrat Dichiseanu in the 88th minute. 89 minutes into the match, Șerban Roşca had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Marian Hurmuzescu. Stiinta Andromeda's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Șerban Roşca was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 6-0. 96 minutes into the match, Fc Rapid Bucuresti's goalkeeper Luca Papaiani had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Gheorghe Oproiu. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Fc Rapid Bucuresti fans cheered their team off the field, for while Stiinta Andromeda had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
