Through an outstanding action, after 13 minutes, Ivan Hrandabur successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. 18 minutes into the match, FC Retezatul Hateg's Luca Pacuraru sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Ivan Hrandabur narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-0.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Valentin Coșereanu to make the kick off.
