The referee ignored United Ajax's protests and gave Ivan Aursulesei a yellow card for diving instead. Ivan Aursulesei hit a great freekick 3 minutes into the match. In the 4th minute of the match Pantaley Ganev shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Ionel Neicu showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Iustinian Zmărăndache took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Radu Horea, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 15 minutes of play, United Ajax's Marcu Martin made it 1-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Iustinian Zmărăndache was left in no man's land by his defense there! Flavius Hortopan made in the 22nd minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by United Ajax's Radu Horea. Iustinian Zmărăndache was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Marcu Martin showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 2-0 in the 24 minute of play. Fellipe Guedes scored 2-1 in the 27th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Ionel Neicu, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Pantaley Ganev received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 31st minute. Ionel Neicu tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Ionel Neicu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Giannis Kalomiris in the 32nd minute of the match. 34 minutes into the match, Marcu Martin dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Iustinian Zmărăndache, 3-1. In the 38th minute, FC Universitatea Cluj's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Eduard Roşculeţ fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Isac Inculeț made in the 42nd minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by United Ajax's Radu Horea. Damian Duldurescu charged in rather forcefully in the 44th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. Waclaw Markowski fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 58th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ionel Neicu having to interfere. In the 71st minute Marcu Martin shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Iustinian Zmărăndache saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. FC Universitatea Cluj's supporters rose to their feet, but Waclaw Markowski was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post.
