If Virgil Ardeleanu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 5th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Horea Chirculescu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Mihai Savu, who was totally free with the ball in the 8th minute. In the 9th minute, Gică Alexandru hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a rather tough play, LEGIO XIII GEMINA's Valer Tonegaru got a free kick in the 15th minute. In the 16th minute, Romeo Gușatu got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Petrică Vernescu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 19th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Florin Bouleanu having to interfere. 21 minutes into the match, ASU POLI TIMISOARA's goalkeeper Horea Chirculescu had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Martin Bran. 24 minutes into the match, Romeo Gușatu had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Florin Bouleanu. LEGIO XIII GEMINA's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Romeo Gușatu was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. After having played for 27 minutes, Martin Bran managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. LEGIO XIII GEMINA's supporters crossed their fingers, but Martin Bran was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 29th minute, Ionică Nicolaescu got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. When ASU POLI TIMISOARA's Romeo Gușatu in the 32nd minute got a chance for a shot 32nd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. Florin Bouleanu breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Romeo Gușatu struck a weak shot in the 49th minute. Florin Bouleanu didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for ASU POLI TIMISOARA.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Gică Alexandru to make the kick off. If Romeo Gușatu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 54th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 57 played minutes LEGIO XIII GEMINA got a freekick which was hit by Mihai Savu. When Gică Alexandru came up free with the goalie in the 63rd minute, the LEGIO XIII GEMINA fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Gică Alexandru couldn't finish the play. Horea Chirculescu came out of the goal in the 72nd minute to try and stop a shot by LEGIO XIII GEMINA's Gică Alexandru. But to his dismay, Gică Alexandru quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. 76 minutes into the match, ASU POLI TIMISOARA's Virgil Ardeleanu sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Florin Bouleanu narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 77th minute of the match ASU POLI TIMISOARA got a corner. LEGIO XIII GEMINA's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Romeo Gușatu ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner ended in Romeo Gușatu almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but LEGIO XIII GEMINA's Florin Bouleanu did a great save. 79 minutes into the match, Ionică Nicolaescu notched a goal, 2-1, to the right of ASU POLI TIMISOARA's Horea Chirculescu. Horea Chirculescu was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. After a defensive mix-up in ASU POLI TIMISOARA's zone, Gică Alexandru stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Horea Chirculescu came out of the goal and Gică Alexandru tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Horea Chirculescu took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gică Alexandru, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. LEGIO XIII GEMINA's Gică Alexandru got a good chance for a goal in the 98th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When the referee blew the final whistle, LEGIO XIII GEMINA could leave the field as winners, despite ASU POLI TIMISOARA having more of the ball for most of the match.
