After some fancy dribbling in the 33rd minute, Adrian Miroiu managed to get in a good position for a shot. Smirna's supporters rose to their feet, but Adrian Miroiu was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ivan Brădea breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The audience was convinced that Lucian Negulescu's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Ivan Brădea was relentless in the 35th minute of the game. After 38 played minutes, Brentford FC's Eugen Cozmâncă shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Vintilă Olariu came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Lucian Negulescu made a kick off. In the 53rd minute Claudiu Itu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ivan Brădea saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Claudiu Itu recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 58th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When Silviu Bornescu came up free with the goalie in the 59th minute, the Smirna fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Silviu Bornescu couldn't finish the play. Lucian Negulescu took the ball and in the 60 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Ivan Brădea. Ivan Brădea dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-0. 65 minutes into the match, Brentford FC's goal looked a bit too open when Claudiu Itu came free, but Ivan Brădea reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Lucian Negulescu came up free with the goalie in the 66th minute, the Smirna fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Lucian Negulescu couldn't finish the play. Codruț Jupâneanu kicked well hit freekick during the 67th minute of the match. After having played for 69 minutes, Lucian Negulescu managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Smirna's supporters crossed their fingers, but Lucian Negulescu was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Lucian Negulescu was shown his second yellow card after 72 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. In the 73rd minute, Lucian Negulescu hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Ivan Brădea showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Claudiu Itu, who was totally free with the ball in the 79th minute. When Nicolae Obreja fell near the penalty area in the 80th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Brentford FC's protests and gave Nicolae Obreja a yellow card for diving instead. In the 80th minute, Nicolae Obreja hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Adrian Miroiu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 81st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ivan Brădea having to interfere. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Mihnea Chiriță during the 83rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Sergiu Cucerdean hit a great freekick 85 minutes into the match. Vintilă Olariu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Sergiu Cucerdean in the 96th minute of the match. When the referee ended the match the Smirna players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
