Gloria Buzău's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. 7 minutes into the match, Dominik Šepetavec had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Ciprian Butuc. Gloria Buzău's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Dominik Šepetavec was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. When the match had gone on for 10 minutes, Panait Oprea put it in 0-3 from a short distance just to the right of Ciprian Butuc. In the 13th minute, Dominik Šepetavec ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Ciprian Butuc was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-4. The ionion fans' excitement grew in the 17th match minute when ionion's Panait Oprea looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-5 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. After some careless play in the Gloria Buzău defense, Ştefan Isvoreanu kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Ciprian Butuc. The Gloria Buzău fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Ciprian Butuc should have stopped the shot. 22 minutes into the game, ionion's Panait Oprea nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Ciprian Butuc made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-7. The audience was convinced that Panait Oprea's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Ciprian Butuc was relentless in the 25th minute of the game. Fabio Abalos showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ionuț Manolescu, who was totally free with the ball in the 39th minute. In the 41st match minute, ionion was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Marijan Ojdanić to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Dominik Šepetavec in the 43rd minute of play forced Gloria Buzău's goalkeeper Ciprian Butuc to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 45th minute ionion were awarded a corner. Grigore Pădure went to the cornerflag to take it. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-10.

The wind increased when Ionuț Manolescu made the kick off in the second half. After a defensive mix-up in Gloria Buzău's zone, Costică Donose stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ciprian Butuc came out of the goal and Costică Donose tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Marijan Ojdanić had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 56th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a rather tough play, ionion's Costică Donose got a free kick in the 60th minute. Panait Oprea could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 62nd minute of the match, but Ciprian Butuc made a huge save. ionion were awarded a corner in the 65th minute after Gloria Buzău's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Grigore Pădure took the corner. ionion's Ştefan Isvoreanu was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Ciprian Butuc in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. When Ionuț Manolescu came up free with the goalie in the 66th minute, the Gloria Buzău fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ionuț Manolescu couldn't finish the play. In the 67th match minute, ionion was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ştefan Isvoreanu to maneuver through the defense. Emilian Bălanescu kicked well hit freekick during the 70th minute of the match. Panait Opreas short, quick shot in the 71stth minute got Ciprian Butuc to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. After some fancy dribbling in the 84th minute, Panait Oprea managed to get in a good position for a shot. ionion's supporters rose to their feet, but Panait Oprea was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ciprian Butuc breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. A hard shot 88 in the game by Panait Oprea from a close distance when the talented Ciprian Butuc managed to make a qualified save. Gloria Buzău's players were relieved. Ciprian Butuc took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ştefan Isvoreanu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Ciprian Butuc stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Panait Oprea's shot from short distance in the 92nd minute. Gloria Buzău's Ciprian Butuc proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 93rd minute of the match, managed to save Gloria Buzău from getting a goal against them.
