Martin Tudor stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Sergiu Miniș's shot from short distance in the 3rd minute. After 5 played minutes Progresul Pitesti got a freekick which was hit by Vintilă Marinică. Martin Tudor showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Iosif Pacuraru, who was totally free with the ball in the 6th minute. Miercani's Grigore Constantin played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Karol Czempa in the 10th minute of play. Grigore Constantin made a fantastic save in the 13th minute, when Vasile Blănaru sent off a good shot on target. Sergiu Miniș got in the 14th a clear chance and fired away a hard shot against goal, but Martin Tudor handled the situation perfectly and made a save by the crossbar. Vasile Blănaru might have been able to make a better finish in the 18th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Grigore Constantin. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Vasile Blănaru ran back to his position shaking his head. When Miercani's Octavian Armanca in the 20th minute got a chance for a shot 20th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Progresul Pitesti's goalie prevented a goal. Leonard Moise received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 34th minute. Grigore Constantin tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Karol Czempa sent away a hard shot on goal in the 38th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Vasile Blănaru to strike the kick off in the second half. Iulian Baltian kicked well hit freekick during the 50th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sergiu Miniș in the 54th minute of play forced Progresul Pitesti's goalkeeper Martin Tudor to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 55 played minutes Miercani got a freekick which was hit by Gavril Schipor. Martin Tudor showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Sergiu Miniș in the 57th minute of the match. A collision led to Miercani getting a freekick after 58 minutes play. Gavril Schipor hit a great ball. After a defensive mix-up in Miercani's zone, Karol Czempa stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Grigore Constantin came out of the goal and Karol Czempa tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Grigore Constantin showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Karol Czempa in the 62nd minute of the match. Peter Paul Mercieca lost his temper 65 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. Martin Tudor made an important save on a dangerous shot by Emilian Suluțiu in the 71st minute. Grigore Constantin showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Vasile Blănaru, who was totally free with the ball in the 72nd minute. Martin Tudor made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Sergiu Miniș in the 74th minute of play. Progresul Pitesti's Martin Tudor played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Octavian Armanca in the 95th minute of play. Miercani were delighted with the way they had won the match. They had held their defensive line well and made the most of their chances, to claim a victory over Progresul Pitesti's much stronger midfield.
