Aron Costa tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 7 minutes into the match, Denis Costescu notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of UMF IASI's Aron Costa. Aron Costa was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Aron Costa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Codrin Coșmeanu in the 17th minute of the match. Aron Costa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gică Stăniloaie, who was totally free with the ball in the 18th minute. UMF IASI's Aron Costa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Florin Urseanu in the 20th minute of play. If Manole Văduvescu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 22nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 36th minute Gică Stăniloaie shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Aron Costa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 40 minutes into the game, Daniel Jumancă was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Academy 01's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave UMF IASI the free kick. In the 40th minute there was a penalty for UMF IASI. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Adrian Ghiurutan was the one to do the kick off. With his leg Aron Costa managed to avoid a goal in the 51stth minute, when Academy 01's Florin Urseanu fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Filip Râznicu prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After 92 played minutes UMF IASI got a freekick which was hit by Manole Văduvescu. When Florin Urseanu got free in front of the goal in the 94th minute he wasn't very focused and chipped the ball just over the goal. Aron Costa was delighted since he was out of position and the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar.
