Dinamo GSV's Iacob Olăroiu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Constantin Negulescu in the 6th minute of play. Constantin Negulescu kicked well hit freekick during the 12th minute of the match. 15 minutes into the game, Sampdoria's Iurie Praporgescu nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Iacob Olăroiu made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-0. With a little luck, Dinamo GSV's Iacob Olăroiu got control of the ball when Iurie Praporgescu tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 22nd minute Constantin Negulescu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Iacob Olăroiu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Constantin Negulescu could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 28th minute of the match, but Iacob Olăroiu made a huge save. In the 29th minute of the match Sampdoria got a corner. Dinamo GSV's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Panait Zdroană ran over to the corner to take the kick. At last the ball reached Iurie Praporgescu at the corner, ending with a kick to difficult to stop for the goalkeeper of Dinamo GSV. 2-0. Moise Mercea blasted a shot towards the goal in the 33rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Iacob Olăroiu having to make a save. In the 38th match minute, Dinamo GSV was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Tibau Van Laer to maneuver through the defense. Panait Zdroană was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 39th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. After some careless play in the Dinamo GSV defense, Iurie Praporgescu kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Iacob Olăroiu. The Dinamo GSV fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Iacob Olăroiu should have stopped the shot. 44 minutes into the match, Sampdoria's Panait Zdroană sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Iacob Olăroiu narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After 45 minutes Dinamo GSV's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Panait Zdroană who took care of the corner kick. Cornel Antohi thought of kicking away a contribution in front of goal but messed it up so badly that the ball went to the right of an astonished Iacob Olăroiu, a very annoying self made goal in the 46th minute which led to 5-0. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 5-0 at half-time.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Toader Coposu to strike the kick off in the second half. An unexpectedly hard shot by Iurie Praporgescu in the 61st minute of play forced Dinamo GSV's goalkeeper Iacob Olăroiu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Iacob Olăroiu didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Moise Mercea went, in the 83rd minute, to the upper right corner, 7-0 was the resulting score. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Iurie Praporgescu in the 88th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Iacob Olăroiu prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Iacob Olăroiu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Moise Mercea, who was totally free with the ball in the 96th minute. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Sampdoria fully deserved thier win.
