Spectators: 7961 (Terracing: 5972, Seating: 1831, VIP seats: 158) Jonis's Alexandru Abrudan started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After a defensive mix-up in Universitatea cluj's zone, Alexandru Abrudan stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Leandro Damiãos short, quick shot in the 7thth minute got Emanuel Lucănescu to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. When Leonard Balaban fell near the penalty area in the 9th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Universitatea cluj's protests and gave Leonard Balaban a yellow card for diving instead. After 10 played minutes Universitatea cluj got a freekick which was hit by Leonard Balaban. Universitatea cluj's Emil Kociniewski played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alexandru Abrudan in the 14th minute of play. Emanuel Lucănescu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Thibaud Vranckx in the 74th minute of play. After 75 minutes, Ovidiu Popescu mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Jonis and the Universitatea cluj players grew even worse after the yellow card. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Universitatea cluj had won after a very even match.
