In the 9th minute Manuel Muntian shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Emanuel Loghin saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 10 minutes into the game, Leonel Servando cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-0. Liviu Sfetcu was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. 14 minutes into the match, Petrică Oproiu notched a goal, 2-0, to the right of FC Dunarea Galati's Liviu Sfetcu. Liviu Sfetcu was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. After 31 played minutes Janova got a freekick which was hit by Ivan Ilieș. In the 34th minute, Ivan Ilieș reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Liviu Sfetcu. The goal made the score 4-0. An unexpectedly hard shot by Leonel Servando in the 37th minute of play forced FC Dunarea Galati's goalkeeper Liviu Sfetcu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 40 minutes into the match, FC Dunarea Galati's goal looked a bit too open when Leonel Servando came free, but Liviu Sfetcu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Manuel Muntian stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. When Janova's Leonel Servando in the 52nd minute got a chance for a shot 52nd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. Branimir Kandev went to the cornerflag to take it. The corner led Janova's Branimir Kandev to fire away a dangerous shot which Liviu Sfetcu despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Manuel Muntian in the 66th minute of play forced Janova's goalkeeper Emanuel Loghin to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Liviu Sfetcu took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Leonel Servando, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The FC Dunarea Galati fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Liviu Sfetcu should have stopped the shot. 82 minutes into the game, Janova's Branimir Kandev nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Liviu Sfetcu made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 9-0. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Ştefan Tulbure in the 85th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Liviu Sfetcu saved FC Dunarea Galati from getting behind. The supporters of FC Dunarea Galati booed when Janova was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 94 match minutes in a wonderful position. Petrică Oproiu didn't get a good kick on the ball.
