Octavian Vătăşel made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. 7 minutes into the game, Eugen Alex was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. AS Fulgerul Ploieşti's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Pitangeles the free kick. Eugen Alex kicked well hit freekick during the 7th minute of the match. 12 minutes into the match, Pitangeles's goal looked a bit too open when Eugen Alex came free, but Octavian Vătăşel reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Octavian Vătăşel took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nae Boteanu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 17th minute, Pompiliu Cristocea made a precise shot to the right of Octavian Vătăşel. Pitangeles's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-2. Octavian Vătăşel made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Eugen Alex in the 19th minute of play. The audience was convinced that Nae Boteanu's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Octavian Vătăşel was relentless in the 25th minute of the game. 26 minutes into the game, Nae Boteanu cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-3. In the 45th minute, Nae Boteanu left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The AS Fulgerul Ploieşti fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-4. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-4 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

After 50 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Pitangeles! An unexpectedly hard shot by Eugen Alex in the 56th minute of play forced Pitangeles's goalkeeper Octavian Vătăşel to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 57th minute, Nicu Pătru managed to get in a good position for a shot. Pitangeles's supporters rose to their feet, but Nicu Pătru was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Luca Halipa breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 58 minutes into the match, Pitangeles's goal looked a bit too open when Eugen Alex came free, but Octavian Vătăşel reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Pitangeles's defense didn't have a chance, in the 60th minute, when Eugen Alex scored to the left of an out of position Octavian Vătăşel, making the score, 0-6. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Codrin Drăgoescu during the 62nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of AS Fulgerul Ploieşti booed when Pitangeles was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 62 match minutes in a wonderful position. Codrin Drăgoescu didn't get a good kick on the ball. Pompiliu Cristocea was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 63rd played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Eugen Alex got free with Octavian Vătăşel in the 73rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The crowd rose to their feet as Eugen Alex kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Octavian Vătăşel. That made the score 0-8 in the 84 minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nae Boteanu in the 89th minute of play forced Pitangeles's goalkeeper Octavian Vătăşel to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Octavian Vătăşel didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Nae Boteanu went, in the 89th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-9 was the resulting score. Octavian Vătăşel made a fantastic save in the 94th minute, when Pompiliu Cristocea sent off a good shot on target. A collision led to Pitangeles getting a freekick after 96 minutes play. Codrin Drăgoescu hit a great ball. AS Fulgerul Ploieşti played a much better game than Pitangeles and deserved their victory. The Pitangeles players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
