FC Csíkszereda's Cătălin Gâțea played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Lucrețiu Hrib in the 9th minute of play. In the 12th minute Dorin Dedu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sebastián Sosa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 13th minute of the match FC Csíkszereda got a corner. FC Inter Sibiu's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Dragoş Horhoianu ran over to the corner to take the kick. A nice corner shot did that Dorin Dedu got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Sebastián Sosa quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Pompiliu Cordescu received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 20th minute. Cătălin Gâțea tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Sebastián Sosa made a fantastic save in the 23rd minute, when Dorin Dedu sent off a good shot on target. FC Inter Sibiu's Baltasar Piorno got his second yellow card of the match in the 27th minute. The referee ordered Baltasar Piorno off the ground. After a rather tough play, FC Inter Sibiu's Baltasar Piorno got a free kick in the 28th minute. FC Csíkszereda's Dragoş Horhoianu got a good chance for a goal in the 29th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Cătălin Gâțea showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Sorin Manciu in the 37th minute of the match. Eugen Chiriță's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Sebastián Sosa read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 44th minute of play. The FC Inter Sibiu fans' excitement grew in the 46th match minute when FC Inter Sibiu's Frank Melis looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Frank Melis made a kick off. In the 53rd minute, Eugen Chiriță hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 55 minutes into the match, FC Inter Sibiu's goal looked a bit too open when Dorin Dedu came free, but Sebastián Sosa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Frank Melis had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 63rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Sebastián Sosa took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Dorin Dedu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Cătălin Gâțea stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Frank Melis's shot from short distance in the 67th minute. 73 minutes into the game, Gică Costandache threw the ball into play from the sideline. FC Csíkszereda's Dumitru Dugulescu quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. Sebastián Sosa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Dorin Dedu, who was totally free with the ball in the 81st minute. With his leg Cătălin Gâțea managed to avoid a goal in the 84thth minute, when FC Inter Sibiu's Frank Melis fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. FC Inter Sibiu's Gică Costandache was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Cătălin Gâțea in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Sebastián Sosa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Dorin Dedu in the 87th minute of the match. Florin Urducea was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 90 minutes into the match. 90 minutes into the game, one of FC Csíkszereda:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. FC Csíkszereda:s Cătălin Gâțea showed great skill when he stopped Gică Costandache:s penalty. In the 95th minute, Frank Melis got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Gelu Tănase during the 96th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 96th match minute, FC Csíkszereda was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Gelu Tănase to maneuver through the defense. Dorin Dedu kicked well hit freekick during the 99th minute of the match.
