Spectators: 8440 (Terracing: 6331, Seating: 1941, VIP seats: 168) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Sebastian Seţeanu started the match with the kick off. Stelian Jurcuț showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cristian Ploieșteanu in the 3rd minute of the match. Stelian Jurcuț showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Florín Răducioiu, who was totally free with the ball in the 5th minute. With an all-out effort, Fălciu's Hami Geçer threw himself towards the right post 12 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Adam Babarada, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. 13 minutes into the game, Steaua Bucuresti's Remus Dudea nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Stelian Jurcuț made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. In the 16th minute the ball was on its way in behind Fălciu's goalkeeper Stelian Jurcuț, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Fălciu's Stelian Jurcuț played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Doru Dănănae in the 17th minute of play. Sebastian Seţeanu in the 19thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Hami Geçer, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. In the 21st minute, Marian Pascaru left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Fălciu fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1. Stelian Jurcuț made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Florín Răducioiu in the 27th minute of play. 28 minutes had been played when some careless play by Fălciu's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Calistrat Lovin was slow to take the kick. During this time Steaua Bucuresti's players had a chance to rest. A nice corner shot did that Marcel Enachescu got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Stelian Jurcuț quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. The audience thought a goal was coming when Sebastian Seţeanu got free with Hami Geçer in the 31st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 34th match minute, Fălciu was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Vasile Cârnațiu to maneuver through the defense. Cristian Ploieșteanu hit a great freekick 40 minutes into the match. In the 41st minute, Cristian Ploieșteanu hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-1.

Fălciu made a substitution. Sergiu Pora replaced Dacian Mâinea. When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Cristian Ploieșteanu made a kick off. Hami Geçer took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Codruț Ababei, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 54th minute Sabin Comșa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Hami Geçer saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Doru Dănănae could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 55th minute of the match, but Stelian Jurcuț made a huge save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Codruț Ababei in the 56th minute of play forced Steaua Bucuresti's goalkeeper Hami Geçer to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 59th minute Doru Dănănae shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Stelian Jurcuț saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The corner led Steaua Bucuresti's Florín Răducioiu to fire away a dangerous shot which Stelian Jurcuț despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. The audience was convinced that Codruț Ababei's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Hami Geçer was relentless in the 63rd minute of the game. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Codruț Ababei in the 80th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Hami Geçer prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 81st minute, Sabin Comșa left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Fălciu fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 4-2. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Codruț Ababei in the 85th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Hami Geçer saved Steaua Bucuresti from getting behind. If Florín Răducioiu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 87th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 93rd minute Codruț Ababei shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Hami Geçer saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Codruț Ababei sent away a hard shot on goal in the 97th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Fălciu fans cheered their team off the field, for while Steaua Bucuresti had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
