Spectators: 8000 (Terracing: 6000, Seating: 1840, VIP seats: 160) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Cristian Ploieșteanu took the kick off in the first half of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Calistrat Albu in the 2nd minute of play forced Steaua Bucuresti's goalkeeper Hami Geçer to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The crowd rose to their feet as Steaua Bucuresti's Cristian Ploieșteanu slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Petr Kladiva. That made the score 1-0 after 6 minutes of play. After 8 minutes, Florín Răducioiu mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Steaua Bucuresti and the Soimusul AFC players grew even worse after the yellow card. Florín Răducioiu kicked well hit freekick during the 8th minute of the match. If Remus Dudea had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 11th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Remus Dudea struck a weak shot in the 17th minute. Petr Kladiva didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Steaua Bucuresti. In the 19th match minute, Steaua Bucuresti was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Cristian Ploieșteanu to maneuver through the defense. Calistrat Lovin lost his temper 20 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. Steaua Bucuresti:s Hami Geçer showed great skill when he stopped Gigi Otopeanu:s penalty. 1-1 came in the 23rd minute when Gigi Otopeanu all by himself managed to get straight through the defense and place the ball into the net to the right of Hami Geçer. Remus Dudea sent away a hard shot on goal in the 27th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 30th minute Calistrat Albu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Hami Geçer saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Petr Kladiva made a fantastic save in the 33rd minute, when Cristian Ploieșteanu sent off a good shot on target. Costin Albulescu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 34th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Hami Geçer having to interfere. With his leg Petr Kladiva managed to avoid a goal in the 36thth minute, when Steaua Bucuresti's Florín Răducioiu fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. 36 minutes into the game, Florín Răducioiu lined in a short shot 2-1 behind a frustrated Petr Kladiva. If Florín Răducioiu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 39th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Hami Geçer made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gigi Otopeanu in the 46th minute of play. After 47 played minutes Soimusul AFC got a freekick which was hit by Lucrețiu Goga. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The wind increased when Costin Albulescu made the kick off in the second half. Petr Kladiva made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cristian Ploieșteanu in the 53rd minute of play. A hard shot 65 in the game by Gigi Otopeanu from a close distance when the talented Hami Geçer managed to make a qualified save. Steaua Bucuresti's players were relieved. Hami Geçer made an important save on a dangerous shot by Calistrat Albu in the 76th minute. Iulian Ologu hit a great freekick 79 minutes into the match. Steaua Bucuresti's Roel Meertens was substituted for Doru Dănănae. In the 80th match minute, Soimusul AFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Iulian Ologu to maneuver through the defense. Hami Geçer showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Costin Albulescu in the 82nd minute of the match. When Costin Albulescu came up free with the goalie in the 85th minute, the Soimusul AFC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Costin Albulescu couldn't finish the play. Costin Albulescu who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 87thth minute tested the skills of Hami Geçer when he managed to save the team from getting behind. 88 minutes into the match, Soimusul AFC's goal looked a bit too open when Florín Răducioiu came free, but Petr Kladiva reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Steaua Bucuresti were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of Soimusul AFC for a fine match.
