Spectators: 8526 (Terracing: 6395, Seating: 1961, VIP seats: 170) FC Politehnica Timisoara's Ernest Manea started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 5 minutes into the match, SuperDepor's goalkeeper Radu Tarchilă had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Håvard Bjørke. FC Politehnica Timisoara's Isac Hojbota played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Răzvan Anghel in the 11th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in FC Politehnica Timisoara's zone, Răzvan Anghel stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Isac Hojbota came out of the goal and Răzvan Anghel tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Călin Bolborici came up free with the goalie in the 17th minute, the SuperDepor fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Călin Bolborici couldn't finish the play. Isac Hojbota stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Răzvan Anghel's shot from short distance in the 22nd minute. SuperDepor were awarded a corner in the 23th minute after FC Politehnica Timisoara's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Rareș Elian took the corner. After taking down the ball on SuperDepor's corner Rareș Elian fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Isac Hojbota quite easily take care of the ball. Călin Bolborici fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 27th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Isac Hojbota having to interfere. A collision led to SuperDepor getting a freekick after 30 minutes play. Răzvan Anghel hit a great ball. Olimpiu Rizea's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Radu Tarchilă read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 31st minute of play. In the 32nd minute Iustinian Comăneci shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Isac Hojbota saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some careless play in the FC Politehnica Timisoara defense, Călin Bolborici kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Isac Hojbota. The FC Politehnica Timisoara fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Isac Hojbota should have stopped the shot. 45 minutes into the game, Sabin Săvulescu was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. SuperDepor's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave FC Politehnica Timisoara the free kick. In the 45th match minute, SuperDepor was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Sabin Săvulescu to maneuver through the defense. Konstantin Elek hit a great freekick 46 minutes into the match. Yosua Helguera, 47 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. The FC Politehnica Timisoara players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. SuperDepor were winning 0-1.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Iustinian Comăneci to make the kick off. Radu Tarchilă made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Olimpiu Rizea in the 51st minute of play. After a rather tough play, SuperDepor's Romeo Hosu got a free kick in the 89th minute. 93 minutes into the match, SuperDepor's goal looked a bit too open when Tudor Ştefănescu came free, but Radu Tarchilă reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 97th minute, Martin Crușeveanu managed to get in a good position for a shot. FC Politehnica Timisoara's supporters rose to their feet, but Martin Crușeveanu was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Radu Tarchilă breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The second half was just like the first, even and exciting. The match ended in a draw.
