Valērijs Kristolds tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 8 minutes into the match, BFC Daugavpils's goal looked a bit too open when Eduards Cips-Caps came free, but Valērijs Kristolds reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Valters Hincenbergs's late challenge caught a Purnava's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Valters Hincenbergs helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to BFC Daugavpils getting a freekick after 14 minutes play. Valters Hincenbergs hit a great ball. The long shot by Imants Bergmans in the 15th minute really tested Valērijs Kristolds's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. After 16 minutes of play BFC Daugavpils's Toms Kriss was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. After 17 played minutes BFC Daugavpils got a freekick which was hit by Toms Kriss. 18 minutes into the game, Kaspars Rogals recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Valērijs Kristolds. Kaspars Rogals showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-0. Ēriks Galvāns showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Sentis Stromanis in the 25th minute of the match. In the 40th minute Auseklis Blasāns shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Valērijs Kristolds saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 41 played minutes Purnava got a freekick which was hit by Auseklis Blasāns. The throw-in from Reinholds Bandonis in the 44th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by BFC Daugavpils's Sigurds Vessers. Valērijs Kristolds showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Eduards Cips-Caps in the 47th minute of the match. When Purnava's Eduards Cips-Caps in the 48th minute got a chance for a shot 48th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye BFC Daugavpils's goalie prevented a goal. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Sentis Stromanis made a kick off. In the 54th minute, Sigurds Vessers had to leave the field with a concussion. Eduards Cips-Caps charged in rather forcefully in the 54th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Eduards Cips-Caps the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. BFC Daugavpils made a substitution. Egīls Mankurts replaced Sigurds Vessers. Eduards Cips-Caps hit a great freekick 56 minutes into the match. If Valters Hincenbergs had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 57th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Valērijs Kristolds took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Eduards Cips-Caps, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. A collision led to BFC Daugavpils getting a freekick after 70 minutes play. Leonīds Cvībels hit a great ball. Eduards Znots kicked well hit freekick during the 73rd minute of the match. Valērijs Kristolds made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Dins Skapars in the 76th minute of play. Egīls Mankurts kicked well hit freekick during the 77th minute of the match. After 78 played minutes, Purnava's Imants Bergmans shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Valērijs Kristolds came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Purnava reached it. If Egīls Mankurts had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 82nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Sentis Stromanis received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 83rd minute. Egīls Mankurts blasted a shot towards the goal in the 85th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Ēriks Galvāns having to make a save. Arnis Pozenskis kicked well hit freekick during the 86th minute of the match. The Purnava players were eager to celebrate when the final whistle sounded. They had somehow managed to win, even though the away team had held the majority of the possession.
