Mārcis Saulkalns sent away a hard shot on goal in the 6th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Mārcis Saulkalns scored 0-1 in the 14th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Gunis Bruņenieks, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. The audience was convinced that Sandris Bandars's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Eduards Vekss was relentless in the 18th minute of the game. Eduards Vekss made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Sandris Bandars in the 21st minute of play. Gunis Bruņenieks took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Mārcis Saulkalns, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 40 played minutes Bēdīgi Slavenie Mērgļi got a freekick which was hit by Austris Palciks. Mārcis Saulkalns sent away a hard shot on goal in the 46th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Edijs Blauss made a kick off. Gunis Bruņenieks was out of position in the 52 minute of play, and Edijs Blauss capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Edijs Blauss really showed his touch with that goal: 0-2. When Austris Zidelis came up free with the goalie in the 58th minute, the Bēdīgi Slavenie Mērgļi fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Austris Zidelis couldn't finish the play. Ziedonis Runcevics kicked well hit freekick during the 59th minute of the match. 62 minutes had been played when some careless play by Bēdīgi Slavenie Mērgļi's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Verners Vīnerts was slow to take the kick. During this time FC Balbesi's players had a chance to rest. FC Balbesi's Verners Vīnerts was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Gunis Bruņenieks in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Saivis Ancēvičs charged in rather forcefully in the 68th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Saivis Ancēvičs the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 68th match minute, Bēdīgi Slavenie Mērgļi was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Saivis Ancēvičs to maneuver through the defense. Eduards Vekss showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Sandris Bandars in the 70th minute of the match. Mārcis Saulkalns could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 72nd minute of the match, but Gunis Bruņenieks made a huge save. Eduards Vekss showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Austris Zidelis, who was totally free with the ball in the 77th minute. After having played for 79 minutes, Sandris Bandars managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Bēdīgi Slavenie Mērgļi's supporters crossed their fingers, but Sandris Bandars was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Sandris Bandars in the 82nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Eduards Vekss prevented the ball from getting in the gole. When Saulvedis Cinovskis fell near the penalty area in the 89th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored FC Balbesi's protests and gave Saulvedis Cinovskis a yellow card for diving instead. Saulvedis Cinovskis got his second yellow card in the match during the 95th minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. In the 96th match minute, FC Balbesi was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Saulvedis Cinovskis to maneuver through the defense. After 97 minutes, Austris Zidelis mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Bēdīgi Slavenie Mērgļi and the FC Balbesi players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of FC Balbesi booed when Bēdīgi Slavenie Mērgļi was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 97 match minutes in a wonderful position. Austris Zidelis didn't get a good kick on the ball. The Bēdīgi Slavenie Mērgļi manager could be seen shouting at his players as they walked down the tunnel after the match. He was clearly angry that they had squandered their superior possession, allowing FC Balbesi to win.
