The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The referee felt a red card was in order, 15 minutes into the game, when Edgars Pedecs put in a rough tackle. After 15 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Sporting Riga! Ervīns Melkerts charged in rather forcefully in the 19th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Ervīns Melkerts the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 19th minute, Ervīns Melkerts hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Oļegs Stengauers had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 22nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Sporting Riga's Ēriks Kiršblats played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Oļegs Stengauers in the 28th minute of play. In the 35thth minute of the game Leopolds Pluksnis who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Riga water's Egīls Strīpa-Brūnis was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After a rather tough play, Sporting Riga's Uldis Marsavs got a free kick in the 36th minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Žanis Ravics in the 38th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Ēriks Kiršblats saved Sporting Riga from getting behind. 38 minutes into the game, Toms Solcs was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Sporting Riga's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Riga water the free kick. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Leopolds Pluksnis was the one to do the kick off. 55 minutes into the match, Sporting Riga's goalkeeper Ēriks Kiršblats had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Žanis Ravics. Vitauts Mormiška made in the 61st minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Sporting Riga's Uldis Marsavs. After 62 minutes, Malvis Grugulis mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Riga water and the Sporting Riga players grew even worse after the yellow card. If Leopolds Pluksnis had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 66th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 68th match minute, Sporting Riga was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Toms Solcs to maneuver through the defense. In the 73rd minute Oļegs Stengauers shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ēriks Kiršblats saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a rather tough play, Sporting Riga's Toms Solcs got a free kick in the 74th minute. Toms Solcs's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Egīls Strīpa-Brūnis read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 78th minute of play. Ēriks Kiršblats showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Oļegs Stengauers in the 81st minute of the match. 82 minutes into the match, Sporting Riga's goal looked a bit too open when Oļegs Stengauers came free, but Ēriks Kiršblats reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Riga water's Oļegs Stengauers got a good chance for a goal in the 84th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Uldis Marsavs sent away a hard shot on goal in the 88th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Severīns Treiers during the 89th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Severīns Treiers kicked well hit freekick during the 90th minute of the match. 91 minutes into the match, Sporting Riga's goal looked a bit too open when Oļegs Stengauers came free, but Ēriks Kiršblats reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Žanis Ravics had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 95th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Sporting Riga were clearly unhappy with the draw, as they felt they had done enough to earn themselves a victory.
