The referee ignored FK Tornado's protests and gave Normunds Orinskis a yellow card for diving instead. Normunds Orinskis kicked well hit freekick during the 4th minute of the match. Egons Butkovskis made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Einārs Boltāns in the 5th minute of play. Einārs Boltāns received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 7th minute. Egons Butkovskis tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Druvvaldis Vecumnieks had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 11th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Adrians Misiks in the 13th minute of play forced FC RTU's goalkeeper Gaidis Millerkrancs to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Egons Butkovskis took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Einārs Boltāns, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 19th minute, Einārs Boltāns made a precise shot to the right of Egons Butkovskis. FK Tornado's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. Adrians Misiks received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 24th minute. Gaidis Millerkrancs tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 26th minute, FK Tornado's Adrians Misiks ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Gaidis Millerkrancs. Gaidis Millerkrancs yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-1. 30 minutes into the game, FC RTU's Einārs Boltāns nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Egons Butkovskis made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-2. If Adrians Misiks had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 36th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a rather tough play, FK Tornado's Haralds Kerčs got a free kick in the 38th minute. In the 42nd minute, Kazimirs Bebers hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Henrijs Oškalns fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 47th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Egons Butkovskis having to interfere. After the first half FC RTU were leading 1-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The wind increased when Einārs Boltāns made the kick off in the second half. When Henrijs Oškalns came up free with the goalie in the 52nd minute, the FC RTU fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Henrijs Oškalns couldn't finish the play. 53 minutes into the match, FK Tornado's goal looked a bit too open when Einārs Boltāns came free, but Egons Butkovskis reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The long shot by Gints Stivers in the 57th minute really tested Egons Butkovskis's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. When Vidmants Bridējs fell near the penalty area in the 60th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored FC RTU's protests and gave Vidmants Bridējs a yellow card for diving instead. FK Tornado's Nikolajs Dzirkalis couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 61st minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for FC RTU. In the 62nd match minute, FC RTU was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Igors Mikulīts to maneuver through the defense. Druvvaldis Vecumnieks fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 64th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gaidis Millerkrancs having to interfere. In the 65th minute, Adrians Misiks ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Gaidis Millerkrancs was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-2. Henrijs Oškalns sent away a hard shot on goal in the 74th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Adrians Misiks recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 80th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The audience was convinced that Einārs Boltāns's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Egons Butkovskis was relentless in the 88th minute of the game.
