A collision led to FC Melluži getting a freekick after 11 minutes play. Zandis Dziesma hit a great ball. When the match had gone on for 14 minutes, Romário Fenomeno put it in 0-1 from a short distance just to the right of Kostas Birbas. After 16 played minutes Asie Zābaki got a freekick which was hit by Sergey Golovchenko. In the 18th minute Zenon Czerniak shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Kostas Birbas saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 21stth minute of the game Zenon Czerniak who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but FC Melluži's Kostas Birbas was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Zandis Dziesma was shown his second yellow card after 22 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. After 23 played minutes FC Melluži got a freekick which was hit by Zandis Dziesma. In the 29thth minute of the game Romário Fenomeno who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but FC Melluži's Kostas Birbas was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The supporters of FC Melluži booed when Asie Zābaki was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 36 match minutes in a wonderful position. Staņislavs Kāznieks didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Romário Fenomeno in the 39th minute of play forced FC Melluži's goalkeeper Kostas Birbas to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 40 minutes into the game, Zenon Czerniak cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-3. Kostas Birbas was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. An unexpectedly hard shot by Romário Fenomeno in the 43rd minute of play forced FC Melluži's goalkeeper Kostas Birbas to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Oļģerts Ezermala to make the kick off. In the 55th match minute, Asie Zābaki was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Sandris Mieramika to maneuver through the defense. 59 minutes into the match, FC Melluži's goalkeeper Kostas Birbas had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Zenon Czerniak. If Zenon Czerniak had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 61st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a defensive mix-up in FC Melluži's zone, Zenon Czerniak stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Kostas Birbas came out of the goal and Zenon Czerniak tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 71st minute, Raits Štolcs hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 74thth minute of the game Oļģerts Ezermala who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Asie Zābaki's Magnuss Zebins was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Kostas Birbas showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Romário Fenomeno, who was totally free with the ball in the 76th minute. 82 minutes into the match, Asie Zābaki's goal looked a bit too open when Lauris Rebenis came free, but Magnuss Zebins reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Romário Fenomeno received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 84th minute. Kostas Birbas tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. FC Melluži's Oļģerts Ezermala got a good chance for a goal in the 87th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The Asie Zābaki supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Asie Zābaki would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
