In the 16th minute, FK Poolisti's Knuts Plekss ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Kostas Birbas. Kostas Birbas yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 2-0. Knuts Plekss could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 22nd minute of the match, but Kostas Birbas made a huge save. 27 minutes into the match, FC Melluži's goal looked a bit too open when Knuts Plekss came free, but Kostas Birbas reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Kostas Birbas stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Knuts Plekss's shot from short distance in the 36th minute. After 36 played minutes FC Melluži got a freekick which was hit by Dainis Laktiņš. Knuts Plekss sent away a hard shot on goal in the 38th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-1.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Oļģerts Ezermala was the one to do the kick off. The supporters of FC Melluži booed when FK Poolisti was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 54 match minutes in a wonderful position. Aļģis Dimants didn't get a good kick on the ball. Kaspars Medinieks lost his temper 91 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. Lauris Rebenis walked up to take care of the penalty kick. He was aiming for the top corner, but the ball went just outside the post. FK Poolisti's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
