Spectators: 7000 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 2000, VIP seats: 0) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Romualds Bulis kicked off to start the match. Indars Prulis made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lauris Rebenis in the 7th minute of play. When Dainis Laktiņš fell near the penalty area in the 8th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored FC Melluži's protests and gave Dainis Laktiņš a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Virdzes booed when FC Melluži was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 8 match minutes in a wonderful position. Dainis Laktiņš didn't get a good kick on the ball. When FC Melluži's Oļģerts Ezermala in the 13th minute got a chance for a shot 13th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Virdzes's goalie prevented a goal. Indars Prulis came out of the goal in the 15th minute to try and stop a shot by FC Melluži's Valgudis Dārzs. But to his dismay, Valgudis Dārzs quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. In the 19th minute, Valgudis Dārzs made a precise shot to the right of Indars Prulis. Virdzes's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-2. 26 minutes into the match, FC Melluži's goal looked a bit too open when Romualds Bulis came free, but Kostas Birbas reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. A collision led to FC Melluži getting a freekick after 27 minutes play. Raits Štolcs hit a great ball. After having played for 27 minutes, Valērijs Pelnis managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Virdzes's supporters crossed their fingers, but Valērijs Pelnis was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Oļģerts Ezermala blasted a shot towards the goal in the 34th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Indars Prulis having to make a save. Kostas Birbas showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Romualds Bulis in the 38th minute of the match. FC Melluži's Kostas Birbas played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Romualds Bulis in the 39th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Virdzes's zone, Oļģerts Ezermala stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Indars Prulis came out of the goal and Oļģerts Ezermala tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Lauris Rebenis fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 45th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Indars Prulis having to interfere. After the first half FC Melluži were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Oļģerts Ezermala stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. FC Melluži's Dainis Laktiņš got a good chance for a goal in the 53rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Valērijs Pelnis struck a weak shot in the 57th minute. Kostas Birbas didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Virdzes. The supporters of FC Melluži booed when Virdzes was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 63 match minutes in a wonderful position. Romualds Bulis didn't get a good kick on the ball. Oļģerts Ezermala fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 65th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Indars Prulis having to interfere. In the 66th minute, Dāniels Šlosbergs hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a defensive mix-up in FC Melluži's zone, Valērijs Pelnis stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Kostas Birbas came out of the goal and Valērijs Pelnis tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Lauris Rebenis fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 69th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Indars Prulis having to interfere. In the 72nd minute, Paulis Muzikants hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The audience thought a goal was coming when Oļģerts Ezermala got free with Indars Prulis in the 75th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Oļģerts Ezermala fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 78th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Indars Prulis having to interfere. When Romualds Bulis came up free with the goalie in the 80th minute, the Virdzes fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Romualds Bulis couldn't finish the play. A collision led to FC Melluži getting a freekick after 82 minutes play. Oļģerts Ezermala hit a great ball. 86 minutes into the match, FC Melluži's goal looked a bit too open when Valērijs Pelnis came free, but Kostas Birbas reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 90 minutes into the match, Virdzes's goalkeeper Indars Prulis had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Lauris Rebenis. 91 minutes had been played when some careless play by Virdzes's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Āris Cicis was slow to take the kick. During this time FC Melluži's players had a chance to rest. The corner led to FC Melluži's Oļģerts Ezermala getting away a dangerous shot that went just outside the goal. FC Melluži's Dainis Laktiņš couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 93rd minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Virdzes. When the match was over FC Melluži could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Virdzes throughout the match.
