Tonis Ovcarenko's late challenge caught a SK Riga 1998's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Tonis Ovcarenko helped the player get up and apologised. In the 11th match minute, PFK Salanyetys was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Tonis Ovcarenko to maneuver through the defense. 13 minutes in the game, Imants Zvaigznonis dribbled his way through the penalty area and after maneuvering past an opponent, drilled a quick shot at the goal. The ball looked like it was going in, but it was hit a bit too hard and flew over the goal. Tedis Musailovs made an important save on a dangerous shot by Miķelis Botāns in the 15th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Edijs Larins in the 17th minute of play forced SK Riga 1998's goalkeeper Armands Bumaga-Papīrs to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ingus Štokenbergs struck a weak shot in the 18th minute. Tedis Musailovs didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for SK Riga 1998. 24 minutes into the match, SK Riga 1998's goal looked a bit too open when Edijs Larins came free, but Armands Bumaga-Papīrs reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Imants Zvaigznonis received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 26th minute. Tedis Musailovs tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Centis Tirss hit a great freekick 27 minutes into the match. When Ingus Štokenbergs came up free with the goalie in the 29th minute, the SK Riga 1998 fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ingus Štokenbergs couldn't finish the play. 31 minutes into the match, PFK Salanyetys's goalkeeper Tedis Musailovs had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Miķelis Botāns. After 37 minutes of play, PFK Salanyetys's Jevgenijs Cavins made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Armands Bumaga-Papīrs was left in no man's land by his defense there! Daumants Venners received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 45th minute. Tedis Musailovs tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After the first half PFK Salanyetys were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Jevgenijs Cavins to make the kick off. 52 minutes into the match, Jevgenijs Cavins dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Armands Bumaga-Papīrs, 0-2. Armands Bumaga-Papīrs made an important save on a dangerous shot by Edijs Larins in the 55th minute. SK Riga 1998's Armands Bumaga-Papīrs played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Centis Tirss in the 56th minute of play. In the 62nd minute, Daumants Venners hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Tonis Ovcarenko might have been able to make a better finish in the 63rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Armands Bumaga-Papīrs. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Tonis Ovcarenko ran back to his position shaking his head. 66 minutes into the match, SK Riga 1998's goalkeeper Armands Bumaga-Papīrs had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Edijs Larins. In the 68th minute, Edijs Larins left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The PFK Salanyetys fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-3. Armands Bumaga-Papīrs was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Jevgenijs Cavins showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 0-4 in the 72 minute of play. SK Riga 1998's Armands Bumaga-Papīrs played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jevgenijs Cavins in the 75th minute of play. SK Riga 1998's Armands Bumaga-Papīrs proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 76th minute of the match, managed to save SK Riga 1998 from getting a goal against them. A collision led to PFK Salanyetys getting a freekick after 79 minutes play. Tonis Ovcarenko hit a great ball. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Centis Tirss during the 87th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of SK Riga 1998 booed when PFK Salanyetys was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 87 match minutes in a wonderful position. Centis Tirss didn't get a good kick on the ball. Māris Zubrickis charged in rather forcefully in the 88th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Māris Zubrickis the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 88th match minute, SK Riga 1998 was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Māris Zubrickis to maneuver through the defense. Armands Bumaga-Papīrs was out of position in the 93 minute of play, and Edijs Larins capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Edijs Larins really showed his touch with that goal: 1-5. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. PFK Salanyetys walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
