The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Alnis Mežavecis made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Michal Noworolnik in the 6th minute of play. GAUJA's Michal Noworolnik got a good chance for a goal in the 11th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Arvīds Kleiners kicked well hit freekick during the 22nd minute of the match. 0-1 became the score in the 26th minute when Michal Noworolnik elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. After 32 played minutes FK BJSS got a freekick which was hit by Arvīds Kleiners. GAUJA's Michal Noworolnik got a good chance for a goal in the 34th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 42nd minute Michal Noworolnik shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Alnis Mežavecis saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 43 played minutes, GAUJA's Ion Ţiriac shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Alnis Mežavecis came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in GAUJA reached it. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Toms Boze was the one to do the kick off. In the 52nd minute the ball was on its way in behind FK BJSS's goalkeeper Alnis Mežavecis, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 58 minutes into the match, FK BJSS's goal looked a bit too open when German Silvanito came free, but Alnis Mežavecis reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Michal Noworolnik blasted a shot towards the goal in the 69th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Alnis Mežavecis having to make a save. 69 minutes into the match, GAUJA's Michal Noworolnik sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Alnis Mežavecis narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Ulvis Cetmens kicked well hit freekick during the 75th minute of the match. In the 79th minute, Ion Ţiriac hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 81st match minute, GAUJA was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Michal Noworolnik to maneuver through the defense. Digmārs Biete showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Toms Boze in the 82nd minute of the match. FK BJSS's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Markuss Zitkēvičs in the 84th minute. After having played for 88 minutes, Antonio Lluis managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. GAUJA's supporters crossed their fingers, but Antonio Lluis was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 89 minutes into the game, Vladislavs Bargais was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. FK BJSS's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave GAUJA the free kick. Vladislavs Bargais hit a great freekick 89 minutes into the match. Michal Noworolnik could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 92nd minute of the match, but Alnis Mežavecis made a huge save. Michal Noworolnik might have been able to make a better finish in the 95th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Alnis Mežavecis. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Michal Noworolnik ran back to his position shaking his head. When the referee blew the final whistle jeers and boos were heard from the home team's supporters. They were angered to see FK BJSS lose a match they had controlled from the kick-off.
