After 2 minutes, Zigmantas Dilda mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Kayrelyay and the Kauns players grew even worse after the yellow card. Zigmantas Dilda hit a great freekick 3 minutes into the match. 7 minutes into the match, Kauns's goal looked a bit too open when Tauras Stasaitis came free, but Rimvydas Jaunius reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When the match clock showed 12 minutes, the score became 0-1 when Girkantas Miliauskas sped through Kauns's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Rimvydas Jaunius. An unexpectedly hard shot by Zenonas Pelėda in the 16th minute of play forced Kauns's goalkeeper Rimvydas Jaunius to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Tauras Stasaitis received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 29th minute. Rimvydas Jaunius tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 35th minute of the match Kayrelyay got a corner. Kauns's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Hubertas Karalius ran over to the corner to take the kick. Kayrelyay's Hubertas Karalius was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Rimvydas Jaunius in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Tauras Stasaitis fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 36th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rimvydas Jaunius having to interfere. Kauns's Rimvydas Jaunius played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tauras Stasaitis in the 40th minute of play. Rimvydas Jaunius took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Girkantas Miliauskas, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-2 lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Žilvinas Duseika was the one to do the kick off. Rimvydas Jaunius stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Girkantas Miliauskas's shot from short distance in the 55th minute. Tauras Stasaitis could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 60th minute of the match, but Rimvydas Jaunius made a huge save. After having played for 61 minutes, Girkantas Miliauskas managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Kayrelyay's supporters crossed their fingers, but Girkantas Miliauskas was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Girkantas Miliauskas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 67th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Tauras Stasaitis was extremely unlucky when he, in the 68th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. Anicetas Damašas's late challenge caught a Kayrelyay's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Anicetas Damašas helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Kauns's Anicetas Damašas got a free kick in the 75th minute. Hubertas Karalius, 76 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. If Vidas Pikelis had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 78th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Girkantas Miliauskas fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 81st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rimvydas Jaunius having to interfere. Hubertas Karalius shot the penalty kick by force right in the crossbar. No goal. Tauras Stasaitis could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 86th minute of the match, but Rimvydas Jaunius made a huge save. Ligitas Kelertas could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 88th minute of the match, but Rimvydas Jaunius made a huge save. In the 90th minute the ball was on its way in behind Kauns's goalkeeper Rimvydas Jaunius, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Girkantas Miliauskas sent away a hard shot on goal in the 91st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Tauras Stasaitis who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 93rdth minute tested the skills of Rimvydas Jaunius when he managed to save the team from getting behind. When the match had gone on for 94 minutes, Girkantas Miliauskas took a quick shot and it went in 0-3 without a chance for Rimvydas Jaunius to make any attempt to save it. Kauns's Rimvydas Jaunius played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Girkantas Miliauskas in the 99th minute of play.
