The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Aloyzas Alukas showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Daugirdas Burneika in the 6th minute of the match. Royal Club Siauliai's Svajūnas Petronis got a good chance for a goal in the 7th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After 9 played minutes FK Palanga got a freekick which was hit by Walter Sanvig. The audience thought a goal was coming when Svajūnas Petronis got free with Aloyzas Alukas in the 12th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 13 minutes into the match, FK Palanga's goalkeeper Aloyzas Alukas had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Svajūnas Petronis. In a very dangerous position, a player in FK Palanga fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 14th minute. Penalty! Vygandas Gasiūnas did an outstanding performance 16 minutes into the match, when he by himself got past the opposing team's defense and with a quick scored 1-0 to the right of an irritated Aloyzas Alukas in the goal. Aloyzas Alukas made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Daugirdas Burneika in the 19th minute of play. When the match clock showed 21 minutes, the score became 2-0 when Svajūnas Petronis sped through FK Palanga's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Aloyzas Alukas. 24 minutes into the game, Royal Club Siauliai's Daugirdas Burneika nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Aloyzas Alukas made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-0. Aloyzas Alukas made an important save on a dangerous shot by Daugirdas Burneika in the 26th minute. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Daugirdas Burneika in the 28th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Aloyzas Alukas prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 29 minutes into the match, FK Palanga's goal looked a bit too open when Daugirdas Burneika came free, but Aloyzas Alukas reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Svajūnas Petronis's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 30thth minute, Aloyzas Alukas skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. FK Palanga's Aloyzas Alukas proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 39th minute of the match, managed to save FK Palanga from getting a goal against them. When Svajūnas Petronis came up free with the goalie in the 46th minute, the Royal Club Siauliai fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Svajūnas Petronis couldn't finish the play. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 4-0 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Walter Sanvig to make the kick off. After some careless play in the FK Palanga defense, Svajūnas Petronis kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Aloyzas Alukas. The FK Palanga fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Aloyzas Alukas should have stopped the shot. Aloyzas Alukas didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Svajūnas Petronis went, in the 86th minute, to the upper right corner, 8-0 was the resulting score. Vygandas Gasiūnas might have been able to make a better finish in the 90th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Aloyzas Alukas. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Vygandas Gasiūnas ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 92nd minute, Vygandas Gasiūnas hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Walter Sanvig charged in rather forcefully in the 93rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Walter Sanvig the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Royal Club Siauliai booed when FK Palanga was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 93 match minutes in a wonderful position. Walter Sanvig didn't get a good kick on the ball.
