Robert Leakey charged in rather forcefully in the 17th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Robert Leakey the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Robert Leakey hit a great freekick 17 minutes into the match. 19 minutes into the game, Sofapaka Football Club's Bobby Nduro nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Josephat Githongo made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-2. The audience thought a goal was coming when Malcolm Manyim got free with Henry Murunga in the 23rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Nairobi Soccer Stars's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Sofapaka Football Club the free kick. In the 42nd match minute, Nairobi Soccer Stars was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Curtis Mwaura to maneuver through the defense. Stephen Rop hit a great freekick 44 minutes into the match. Josephat Githongo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Robert Leakey, who was totally free with the ball in the 47th minute.

An unexpectedly hard shot by Philip Ntalami in the 83rd minute of play forced Nairobi Soccer Stars's goalkeeper Josephat Githongo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Josephat Githongo made an important save on a dangerous shot by Felix Popârcea in the 84th minute. In the 90th minute of the match Philip Wambua shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Josephat Githongo showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. When the match was over Sofapaka Football Club could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Nairobi Soccer Stars throughout the match.
