John Kenyatta hit a great freekick 12 minutes into the match. James Mwangi could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 15th minute of the match, but Ondoro Muchoki made a huge save. Myles Temu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Njeri Nyamau in the 17th minute of play. Myles Temu stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Njeri Nyamau's shot from short distance in the 19th minute. Myles Temu took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ngina Bilali, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After having played for 25 minutes, Peter Tanui managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Saltash City's supporters crossed their fingers, but Peter Tanui was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. With a little luck, Redcar AFC's Ondoro Muchoki got control of the ball when James Mwangi tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 28th match minute, Redcar AFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ngina Bilali to maneuver through the defense. The audience was convinced that Peter Tanui's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Ondoro Muchoki was relentless in the 29th minute of the game. Joe Akinyi recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 34th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 35th minute of the game. One of Saltash City:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Redcar AFC:s goal. The referee gave Redcar AFC a penalty, 37 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Emmanuel Githongo, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Saltash City's Myles Temu. 0-1. In the 44th minute Joe Akinyi shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Myles Temu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Michael Griffin fell near the penalty area in the 45th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Saltash City's protests and gave Michael Griffin a yellow card for diving instead. After the first half Redcar AFC were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The wind increased when Peter Tanui made the kick off in the second half. Joe Akinyi sent away a hard shot on goal in the 56th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. Joe Akinyis short, quick shot in the 81stth minute got Myles Temu to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Njeri Nyamau had several of the Saltash City's defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 82 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. This resulted in a 0-2 score and a disappointed Myles Temu as he didn't even see the shot coming. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Philip Mbugi during the 86th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 87 played minutes Redcar AFC got a freekick which was hit by Philip Mbugi. After having played for 91 minutes, Njeri Nyamau managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Redcar AFC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Njeri Nyamau was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Bwana Cheboror had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 95th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 97 minutes of play Redcar AFC's Philip Mbugi was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. Philip Mbugi kicked well hit freekick during the 98th minute of the match. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Redcar AFC eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
