Mwai Emilio Mwangi made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-3. In the 27th minute, David Kimeu made a precise shot to the right of Mwai Emilio Mwangi. FC Mfanyakazi Mombasa's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-4. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Jawahir Shikanda in the 29th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Mwai Emilio Mwangi saved FC Mfanyakazi Mombasa from getting behind. Mwai Emilio Mwangi showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Bonaventure Pinches, who was totally free with the ball in the 31st minute. In the 32nd minute, Josephat Cheruiyot left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. Disappointed in the 1-4 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Christopher Bilali to make the kick off.
