Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Kagai Muhoho made the kick off and thus started the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jehovah Keino in the 3rd minute of play forced Strood United's goalkeeper John Kariuki to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Curtis Akinyi in the 7th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg John Kariuki saved Strood United from getting behind. Daniel Konchellah kicked well hit freekick during the 16th minute of the match. In the 18th minute Curtis Akinyi shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but John Kariuki saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 20 minutes, Ngũgĩ wa Wangeci mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Strood United and the High Coniscliffe players grew even worse after the yellow card. Ngũgĩ wa Wangeci hit a great freekick 20 minutes into the match. It was beautiful to see High Coniscliffe's Francis Odinga in action when he in the 22nd minute dribbled his way through a couple of opponents and the fired away a shot from almost standing still. First the ball seemed to get in, but turned out to be on the outside of the net. A great chance! 26 minutes into the game, Kagai Mosop was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Strood United's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave High Coniscliffe the free kick. In the 26th minute, Kagai Mosop hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. John Kariuki made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Curtis Akinyi in the 31st minute of play. In the 36th match minute, High Coniscliffe was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Tony Githinji Waheto to maneuver through the defense. Jehovah Keino fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 41st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without John Kariuki having to interfere. The supporters of High Coniscliffe booed when Strood United was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 42 match minutes in a wonderful position. Sammy Ongao didn't get a good kick on the ball. Curtis Akinyi struck a weak shot in the 44th minute. John Kariuki didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for High Coniscliffe.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Curtis Akinyi to make the kick off. Curtis Akinyi fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 53rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without John Kariuki having to interfere. After having played for 56 minutes, Jehovah Keino managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. High Coniscliffe's supporters crossed their fingers, but Jehovah Keino was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 57th minute, Curtis Akinyi fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. Strood United's John Kariuki proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 58th minute of the match, managed to save Strood United from getting a goal against them. Omar Nekesa charged in rather forcefully in the 59th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Omar Nekesa the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, Strood United's Omar Nekesa got a free kick in the 60th minute. Curtis Akinyi struck a weak shot in the 61st minute. John Kariuki didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for High Coniscliffe. A collision led to High Coniscliffe getting a freekick after 66 minutes play. Francis Odinga hit a great ball. Eliud Lel might have been able to make a better finish in the 68th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Dedan Awino. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Eliud Lel ran back to his position shaking his head. John Kariuki stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Curtis Akinyi's shot from short distance in the 73rd minute. When Kagai Muhoho fell near the penalty area in the 76th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Strood United's protests and gave Kagai Muhoho a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Strood United getting a freekick after 80 minutes play. Daniel Konchellah hit a great ball. Curtis Akinyi sent away a hard shot on goal in the 81st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Jehovah Keino could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 83rd minute of the match, but John Kariuki made a huge save. A collision led to High Coniscliffe getting a freekick after 85 minutes play. Conrad Tanui hit a great ball. After 86 played minutes High Coniscliffe got a freekick which was hit by Omar Kogo. In the 87th minute, Kagai Muhoho got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Jehovah Keino fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 89th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without John Kariuki having to interfere. With a little luck, Strood United's John Kariuki got control of the ball when Jehovah Keino tried to sneak it across the goal line. Curtis Akinyi's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but John Kariuki read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 92nd minute of play. John Kariuki stood somewhat misplaced when Jehovah Keino came free in front of goal and shot 0-1 to the left of him in the 94 minute. High Coniscliffe played a much better game than Strood United and deserved their victory. The Strood United players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
