The coaching staff of Widnes United protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Paul Nabwire had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 25th minute of the game. One of Widnes United:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Accrington:s goal. Widnes United:s John Biwott showed great skill when he stopped Olga Mutuli:s penalty. When Widnes United's Stephen Koech in the 28th minute got a chance for a shot 28th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. Ben Kibiwott took the ball and in the 58 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised John Biwott. John Biwott dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-1. After a rather tough play, Widnes United's Samuel Ngoka got a free kick in the 61st minute. John Ocholla hit a great freekick 63 minutes into the match. The supporters of Accrington booed when Widnes United was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 64 match minutes in a wonderful position. Naftali Nekesa didn't get a good kick on the ball. John Biwott showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Moses Rubia in the 67th minute of the match. In the 70th minute, John Ocholla had to be helped off the field due to a pulled leg muscle. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Samuel Ngoka during the 70th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Samuel Ngoka hit a great freekick 71 minutes into the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 76th minute, Stephen Koech managed to get in a good position for a shot. Accrington's Eliud Njenga played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Julius Wambui in the 85th minute of play. A collision led to Widnes United getting a freekick after 91 minutes play. Okot Keino hit a great ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Stephen Koech got free with Eliud Njenga in the 95th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Accrington fans cheered their team off the field, for while Widnes United had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
