Dedan Kariuki hit a great freekick 4 minutes into the match. In the 4th match minute, Widnes United was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Oburu Dadi to maneuver through the defense. Remco Driel made an important save on a dangerous shot by Stephen Koech in the 7th minute. Remco Driel made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Dedan Kariuki in the 15th minute of play. If Stephen Koech had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 27th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A collision led to Widnes United getting a freekick after 29 minutes play. Paul Nabwire hit a great ball. After having played for 36 minutes, Dedan Kariuki managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Widnes United's supporters crossed their fingers, but Dedan Kariuki was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 39th minute Moses Ogot shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but John Biwott saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. John Biwott showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Moses Ogot, who was totally free with the ball in the 39th minute. Liverpool KN's Moses Ogot got a good chance for a goal in the 41st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After a rather tough play, Widnes United's Okot Keino got a free kick in the 47th minute.

The wind increased when Carsten Kruijs made the kick off in the second half. In the 57th minute, Stephen Koech hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Widnes United's John Biwott proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 60th minute of the match, managed to save Widnes United from getting a goal against them. John Biwott didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Thomas Leakey went, in the 66th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. In the 70th minute, Paul Nabwire hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Carsten Kruijs fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 86th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without John Biwott having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Thomas Leakey in the 88th minute of play forced Widnes United's goalkeeper John Biwott to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When the final whistle sounded Liverpool KN left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Widnes United.
