Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Strood United's Kagai Muhoho started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Stephen Koech sent away a hard shot on goal in the 3rd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Stephen Koech's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but John Kariuki firmly grabbed it by the left post. In the 6thth minute of the game Dedan Kariuki who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Strood United's John Kariuki was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. A collision led to Strood United getting a freekick after 6 minutes play. Sammy Ongao hit a great ball. The supporters of Widnes United booed when Strood United was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 11 match minutes in a wonderful position. Sammy Ongao didn't get a good kick on the ball. John Kariuki made a fantastic save in the 15th minute, when Stephen Koech sent off a good shot on target. 17 minutes into the match, Strood United's goal looked a bit too open when Stephen Koech came free, but John Kariuki reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Widnes United's Dedan Kariuki got a good chance for a goal in the 26th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The audience thought a goal was coming when Stephen Koech got free with John Kariuki in the 30th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. John Biwott made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Kagai Muhoho in the 32nd minute of play. John Kariuki stood somewhat misplaced when Dedan Kariuki came free in front of goal and shot 1-1 to the left of him in the 38 minute. Stephen Koechs short, quick shot in the 42ndth minute got John Kariuki to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Widnes United's Stephen Koech got a good chance for a goal in the 48th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar.

Kagai Mosop hit a great freekick 54 minutes into the match. John Kariuki came out of the goal in the 59th minute to try and stop a shot by Widnes United's Dedan Kariuki. But to his dismay, Dedan Kariuki quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-1. Dedan Kariuki took the ball and in the 63 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised John Kariuki. John Kariuki dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-1. In the 65th match minute, Strood United was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Edward Owino to maneuver through the defense. When Dedan Kariuki came up free with the goalie in the 67th minute, the Widnes United fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Dedan Kariuki couldn't finish the play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Stephen Koech in the 67th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg John Kariuki saved Strood United from getting behind. John Kariuki showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Stephen Koech in the 69th minute of the match. In the 71stth minute of the game Stephen Koech who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Strood United's John Kariuki was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. When Widnes United's Dedan Kariuki in the 73rd minute got a chance for a shot 73rd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Strood United's goalie prevented a goal. After 76 played minutes Strood United got a freekick which was hit by Ngũgĩ wa Wangeci. Samuel Ngoka hit a great freekick 77 minutes into the match. In the 83rd minute, Stephen Koech made a precise shot to the right of John Kariuki. Strood United's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 4-1. Dedan Kariuki took the ball and in the 87 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised John Kariuki. John Kariuki dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 5-1. John Kariuki took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Dedan Kariuki, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Dedan Kariuki came up free with the goalie in the 98th minute, the Widnes United fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Dedan Kariuki couldn't finish the play. Widnes United walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
