Chaz Gibbons took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Bart Rowell, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 9th match minute, Thirsk was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Kyle Pullen to maneuver through the defense. Alexander Howard, 10 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. Basildon's Billy Busby managed to work through Thirsk's defense and was going for an easy goal, but he hit the shot with his toe and the ball flew outside the goal. Billy Busby dejectedly held out his arms as if to ask why the ball hadn't gone in. In the 16th minute Bart Rowell shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Chaz Gibbons saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Syd Hammett had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 17th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 20th minute Billy Busby shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Eddy Pascoe saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 22nd minute of the match Phil Dixon shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Eddy Pascoe showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. In the 23rd minute Calum Brazier shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Eddy Pascoe saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 26 played minutes Basildon got a freekick which was hit by Blair Metcalf. Syd Hammett received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 29th minute. Chaz Gibbons tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Eddy Pascoe took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Calum Brazier, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Basildon's Calum Brazier in the 33rd minute got a chance for a shot 33rd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Thirsk's goalie prevented a goal. Billy Busby kicked well hit freekick during the 39th minute of the match. Bart Rowell fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 40th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Chaz Gibbons having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Basildon's Toby Rose got a free kick in the 43rd minute. Chaz Gibbons took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Bart Rowell, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Bart Rowell struck a weak shot in the 48th minute. Chaz Gibbons didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Thirsk. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Bart Rowell stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. A collision led to Basildon getting a freekick after 53 minutes play. Phil Dixon hit a great ball. 62 minutes into the game, Bart Rowell cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-0. Chaz Gibbons was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Chaz Gibbons took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Bart Rowell, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 67th minute, Calum Brazier fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. Eddy Pascoe was out of position in the 71 minute of play, and Billy Busby capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Billy Busby really showed his touch with that goal: 1-1. In the 83rd minute Bart Rowell shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Chaz Gibbons saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Edward Potterton kicked well hit freekick during the 86th minute of the match. After 91 minutes Thirsk's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Alexander Howard who took care of the corner kick. Basildon's Alexander Howard was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Eddy Pascoe in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Basildon's Chaz Gibbons played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Bart Rowell in the 95th minute of play. The Basildon players were the happier at the end of the match as they had prevented Thirsk from taking control. The game ends in a draw.
